ANTHONY PIETERS

Anthony Pieters is an artist making his mark in the fine art and entertainment scene.

This self-taught artist, born in 1989, hailing from the Gold Coast (Queensland, Australia), doesn’t limit his creative passions to one avenue. By day he creates detailed artworks for his collectors and by night performs in front of live audiences as a speed artist.

Though his work appears to be in stark contrast to each other, they are an expression of what Anthony posses as an artist. His practice as a fine artist requires a tranquil and private environment to create his details pieces. While his practice as a performer is motivated by the engagement of the audience to create artworks that are expressive, unrefined, raw and bold. “If feel my work as whole is a juxtaposition, whether it is intentional or not.”

As an artist, Anthony in the recent years has created artworks that are heavily textured within his landscape inspired pieces and figurative work. “I enjoy how the medium gives dimension to my work and how different lighting in various spaces transforms them.” By sharing his textured work through his instagram alias @artem.patet, Anthony’s reels have reached over 8 millions views. “To reach that many people within a few short years is remarkable and opened so many doors for me to finally make a living from art.”

Since incorporating texture in his work since 2020, his art has been in high demand from art collectors and interior designers around the world. His landscape inspired works have been displayed in the lobby of 5-star hotel in Dubai while another 5-Star hotel in Sydney features his work in 154 rooms.

As a performer, Anthony performs regularly around the Gold Coast and Brisbane region. While creating black and white figurative pen drawings, he incorporates music and dance to create a performance that is high energy and expressive. “It’s great to see the crowd surprised and engaged when I create the speed drawings. I could take it easy and create more detailed pieces in 5 minutes, but I know it’s more of entertaining when I put my whole body into the process. Plus it’s fun to use my background as dancer and add rhythm with each pen stroke that hits the surface.”

Looking to the future, Anthony aims to expand his art by developing creative visual experiences that will connect with a global audience. “I see myself holding my own solo exhibitions where the fine art pieces are also a response to the live speed art performance. I want to create a memorable experience where both my practices come together. I believe timing is key, so when the timing is right and there is an audience for it, I look forward to making these ideas a reality.”

There’s no doubt that Anthony Pieters will continue to create engaging work for the years to come. Keep up to date by following both his socials: @anthonypietersartist + @artem.patet
